History of Zuma Dobermans
I got my first Doberman in 1986, it was a gift from my Father to my Husband and I,my husbands first reaction was NO, I don't want a dog, and I don't want a Doberman.Well, after Zolie arrived, my husband fell in love.Zolie (TerGwes Zoelina of Zuma CD 4/88 to 3/92) was not the best example of the doberman breed, but she was a good dog to learn about the breed from. Zolie had a wonderful temperment and was fearless! I began taking Zolie to obedience classes when she was about 6 mos old, and then continued till her premature death of Cardio at 4 3/3 years old. She and I learned all about AKC obedience together, we earned our Companion Dog title and she was training for her Companion Dog Excellent title when she died of Cardio. Zolie loved to run with us while we rode our horses, she also loved to herd them around the corral. Zolie also had natural ears, at that time, I chose not to crop the ears, I also left the ears natural on my second Doberman, Heidi (Bluemoon's Heidi of Zuma CDX CGC WAE). Heidi lived to be 12 years old and eventually died of old age cardio. She was a great dog, and we did many fun things together, Heidi was also very tolarant of the rescue dogs that we would foster, as well as the dogs that would come stay a few days with us. My third Doberman was Ami, (Irishills' Scarlet O'hara CDX CGC WAE), this was supposed to be my first "good" doberman, and She was my first Red, she was out of a Windwalker walker daugter bred by Sue Neville of Shinya Dobermans and a Shinya male. She was sold to me as the Pick bitch, but as she developed, she ended up with 4 missing teeth, so her show career did not go very far, but she was still an extremely beautiful bitch. Ami died at 7 3/4 of a heart attack complicated by surgery for an intestinal blockage. My next Doberman was a Red bitch named Candi (Tei Amos Maureen O'hara CDX CGC) She was bred by my good friends Michele and Jerry Penny, unfortunatly Michele died when the puppies were about 1 month old, so a crew of friends took over the raising of this litter, I got Candi when she was about 6 weeks old, and she was a super good girl, She lived to be 7 3/4 and died of Cardio. I then rescued my next Doberman, who was an older Red male, with lots of scarring on his neck, and was picked up with a wide spiked leather collar, so I think that "Rex" was a fighter in his younger days. He was the dog that I should have left at the shelter, but I just couldn't leave him there, he was skin and bones and old, when I rescued him, his condition improved rapidly as he was fed good food and loved and adored by my 3 other bitches. Rex lived with us for 2 2/1 years and eventually died of osteosarcoma, he delevoped a tumor on his left rear hock, and I chose not to do any heroric treatments, except to feed him an all raw diet, He did very well, till one day, he told me that he was though fighting, and that afternoon surrounded by all my animals, our vet assisted his transistion to the rainbow bridge. From November 1998 tilll April 1999, I lost 3 of my beloved Dobermans, Ami, Rex and then Heidi. We got Gem (CH. Gemstone's Gem Dandy) 3 days before Heidi Passed away, I told Heidi, you can't die till the Puppy get's here, and sure enough, she didn't until Gem had been there a couple of days. Gem was my first
